Due to the award of new projects and expansion a leading manufacturer of advanced technologies has a new vacancy for a Development Engineer. A qualified senior engineer you will lead R&D activities of new products and must have a good understanding of new product design, material selection, verification and certification.

Salary: £ 45,000 – £ 55,000 p.a. + benefits

The Role

Working on a number of new products and projects for aerospace & defence applications, you will lead the development team in the advancement of current programmes to drive R&D, design through to qualification and certification.

Key responsibilities:

Design and development of new products, including tooling, material selection and processing parameters
Developing test specifications and procedures and analysis/interpreting findings
Support with problem solving of design and product issues
Defining product development plans in line with budget
Providing work instructions such as schematics, CNC programming, manufacturing guidelines
Support and oversee verification and validation activities
Providing technical support across engineering teams including quality, design, and manufacturing for proposed designs
Support marketing and Sales teams to introduce new products to the market

The Candidate

Candidates must be qualified to degree level in Mechanical Engineering or a similar subject and have proven design and development engineering experience of new products from inception to launch. An understanding of composites would be beneficial but not essential.

Applicants must also have good 3D CAD modelling skills, be well organised and be able to cope with multiple tasks and priorities. You must be able to communicate effectively on a technical level with both peers, management and customers.
