Artemis Technologies is an applied technology spin-off company from the Artemis Racing America‘s Cup Team - founded in 2017 to commercialise the hydro-foiling and tool chain intellectual property developed by the team. Providing engineering services to high-performance and commercial clients and led by double Olympic gold medalist, Dr Iain Percy OBE, the Artemis Technologies team comprises global experts from the fields of maritime, yacht design, aerospace and motorsport. Artemis are ably supported by a superb consortium of engineering and academic partners, with funding from Innovate UK, in pursuit of research and development excellence.
Artemis Technologies are seeking a Naval Architect to support them in their mission to become the market leader in high-speed zero-emission vessels and propulsion systems: - to deliver the vision of decarbonising maritime transport.
The Naval Architect will deliver hull, internal structure and foils CAD modelling content, create stability reports and support flow of information to the simulation and design tools departments. The Naval Architect will also monitor weights and estimates in collaboration with the ATL vessels team and create deliverables for the manufacturing department and external suppliers.
Key responsibilities will include 3D drafting of the Artemis eFoiler vessels, hull and superstructure shapes design and optimization and hydrostatics/stability calculations. You will support 2D drafting of production deliverables for manufacturing including vessels and appendages and create weight and inertia estimates.
The Naval Architect will support structural engineering, create manufacturing deliverables and support the operation and maintenance of the prototype eFoiler vessel. You will ensure compliance and best practice in design throughout your work.
The Naval Architect will possess a recognized technical qualification to degree level or equivalent and be highly conversant with AutoCAD and 3D CAD software for hull/foil design such as Rhino/Catia. Any previous experience with design tools automation (scripting/coding) is highly advantageous for the role.
You will possess good working knowledge of Naval Architecture and foiling/floating vessel dynamics and be conversant with powerboat hull shape design and related appendages such as foils, keels or rudders.
Previous experience within composite and metal construction for hulls and appendages is highly desirable in addition to excellent report writing skills and an effective communication skill set. The Naval Architect will demonstrate a passion for excellent design and relish the challenge of working in a dynamic and thriving naval architecture team.
