As the Senior Research Engineer - Additive Manufacturing, the main purpose of this role is to deliver and coordinate a high-quality project in the area of metal powder bed fusion (MPBF) and support technical development within the Additive Manufacturing team.
The role of Senior Research Engineer within the Additive Manufacturing will focus on the following key duties and responsibilities:
Support department leadership aiming to identify latest and novel Additive Manufacturing technologies and processes with purpose of including them in projects or the team strategy.
Technically lead, deliver and manage a portfolio of projects in the area of MPBF Additive Manufacturing.
Ensure that work is handled to meet the MTC and clients‘ quality expectations, within the budget and be ready on time.
Lead proposal/bid development for innovative industrial and collaborative R&D
Lead and deliver a scope of complex technical tasks in specialist area and related technologies.
Lead the technology strategy (including capex, CR&D and industrial links) in relevant subject areas.
Lead and manage a small team of AM engineers.
The successful candidate for the Senior Research Engineer - Additive Manufacturing will possess the following attributes:
A degree qualified in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials, Aerospace Engineering or related subject plus minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in industry or academia working on metal powder bed fusion Additive Manufacturing technologies.
Strong knowledge of metal powder bed fusion Additive Manufacturing process.
Experience with process parameter development of metal powder bed fusion Additive Manufacturing technologies.
Experience coaching and supporting the technical development of engineers.
Experience creating technology roadmaps.
Competent in writing competitive funding bids (e.g., Innovate UK or H2020).
Fundamental knowledge of metallurgy and its application to Additive Manufacturing.
Proven ability to lead and deliver high standard projects.
Experience leading and managing small teams of engineers.
