The Manufacturing Technology Centre is a UK success story - created to provide manufacturing systems solutions in an agile environment in partnership with industry, academia and other institutions. Working in partnership with Consilium Recruit they are seeking a Senior Research Engineer Laser Processing. The purpose of the role is primarily focused on the independent technical delivery of projects and leadership in the development of project related activities within the Laser Processing arena.

As the Senior Research Engineer Laser Processing, the initial focus will be to undertake innovative Engineering research work focused primarily on technology/manufacturing readiness levels for Laser Processing.
Further responsibilities include:
Taking ownership of Laser Processing projects to ensure work meets or exceeds agreed customer requirements, and is delivered within agreed budgets and timescales.
Support Senior Managers with a proactive approach in the identification, technical specification, and delivery of new and novel technology capability into the MTC.
Involvement in all aspects of the project delivery, taking overall ownership and ensuring compliance with all relevant standards.
You will be expected to line-manage, coach and mentor others within the team, supporting the resource manager in development and deployment of colleagues.
Able to demonstrate the use of coaching and mentoring to support colleagues and transfer knowledge in the Laser Processing arena.
Create robust processes for identifying, capturing and prioritising training needs for the organisation and individual team members.
Ensure the Leadership Academy agenda is aligned to the overall business strategy.
Work with business leaders and HR to identify and analyse learning needs and develop learning interventions.
Apply L&D methods, tools and best practices to include planning, design, development and project management to deliver learning solutions utilising a blend of learning methods and technology.
The successful candidate for the Senior Research Engineer Laser Processing will possess the following attributes:
Able to demonstrate the use of coaching and mentoring to support colleagues and transfer knowledge in the area of Laser Processing.
Demonstrable commercial awareness.
Show ownership of Health and Safety to ensure own and colleague‘s health and safety.
Degree calibre engineer, technologist, scientist or mathematician.
Technical experience either in industry or academia working on laser processing technologies, and evidence of leading technical projects.
Must have experience of team management as a line manager where you were responsible for team members development.
Ideally have experience of working on collaborative R&D projects e.g. Innovate UK H2020.
