Working in partnership with Consilium Recruit they are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer CNC. The purpose of this role is to turn customer demands into a method of manufacture than can meet the requirements whilst adhering to cost and lead times in relation to CNC Machining.

The Role


As the Manufacturing Engineer CNC using your technical expertise in milling and turning you will be continuously improving manufacturing methods in order to reduce lead-time, cost and minimise chance of non-conformances.


  • You will be involved in the operation of the manufacturing process and be expected to set, operate and programme CNC Milling and Turning machines to meet customer demand.

  • Work closely with customers to optimise their designs of products (DFM) to ensure optimum manufacturing method can be generated.

  • Influence the creation and deployment of future manufacturing capability roadmap to ensure world class processes are operated.

  • Develop and coach Technicians in manufacturing processes.

  • Manage the introduction of new manufacturing capability into the workshop.

  • Quote job requests for lead-time and costs.

  • Support continuous improvement and continuous reduction of waste.

  • Turn a customer demand (a specification) into a method of manufacture that can then be executed to meet the customer demand within the required lead-time and cost.


The Person


The ideal candidate for the Manufacturing Engineer CNC position, you will be:


  • Degree qualified in an Engineering, Industrial or Manufacturing discipline or equivalent qualification such as HND or Time Served Apprenticeship.

  • Experience in Siemens NX CAD/CAM is preferable however open to other CAD/CAM Software packages.

  • Must have experience in both turning and milling capabilities, ideally up to 5 axis (3+2) with ability to set, operate and programme.

  • Proven track record with engaging directly with customers to determine requirements and be able to communicate effectively.

  • Previous experience acting as a mentor to other machinists.

  • Must have knowledge of tooling and fixtures in addition to lean manufacturing principles to aid process improvements and efficiencies in machining capabilities.
