Working in partnership with Consilium Recruit they are seeking an Senior Research Engineer - Automation, Mechatronics and Electronics Manufacturing. The role is primarily focused on the independent technical delivery of projects and leadership in the development of project related activities across The MTC, work across various technology departments and industrial sectors.

The role of Senior Research Engineer - Automation, Mechatronics and Electronics Manufacturing will be expected to:
Generate key project and strategic initiatives in alignment with theme`s strategy, actively supporting to develop the theme business and technology strategy in your specific area of expertise;
Lead project technical deliverables, taking ownership to ensure work meets or exceeds agreed customer requirements, and is delivered within agreed budgets and timescales. Where delegated, to act as Technical Governance lead for project deliverables.
Be confident to advise external customers and create concept designs of automation solutions, right through to commissioning robotics/automation cells and equipment on site (FAT/SAT, CE marking of equipment or awareness); technologies relating to: safety systems, robot programming, kinematics, dynamics, motion / pathway planning, closed-loop control system, computer vision;
Have experience with automation / robotics software or software development (ROS, C++, Python), experience developing embedded software, or knowledgeable of their application and industrial limitations.
Understanding of electrical standards, e.g. IEC 60204-1, PUWER, Machinery Directive, ideally a Certified Machine Safety Expert (CSME), understanding and application of Safety Integrity Level (SIL).
The ideal candidate for the role of Senior Research Engineer - Automation, Mechatronics and Electronics Manufacturing will have/be:
Demonstrable substantial and recognised expertise in a specific area relevant to the theme. Expert knowledge of the manufacturing sector and deep understanding of manufacturing systems and technologies;
Degree calibre engineer, in a related discipline: Computer-science, Robotics Engineering, scientist or mathematician.
Expert knowledge of automation and robotics systems and understanding of commercially available and developing
Pragmatic hands on experience, providing problem solving approach and who is willing to physically participate in completion of work when required.
Self-motivated and a self-starter, with the ability to work autonomously to meet deadlines, budgets and quality expectations, both within a team, or independently.
