Working in partnership with Consilium Recruit they are seeking an Advanced Research Engineer - Design & Build. As an Advanced Research Engineer (ARE), working as part of the Design & Build team, you will deliver on exciting industrial and collaborative projects across a number of industrial sectors. You will be a self-starter and capable of working autonomously, managing your own projects, and supporting others using your engineering knowledge and experience.

The Role    

 

The role of Advanced Research Engineer - Design & Build key responsibilities include:

  • Liasing with clients and working with the team to budget and plan engineering projects across various industrial sectors

  • Helping to develop design specifications, statement of requirements and feasibility studies

  • Managing and leading projects through to successful completion within agreed timescale and budget

  • Conducting market research, literature reviews and using root cause analysis to solve client problems through research and development

  • Concept generation, detailed design and design validation using appropriate tools and techniques

  • Development of test specifications, design of experiments and other techniques to provide systematic testing

  • Prototyping of test equipment and demonstrators

  • Presentation of project results to the client

 

The MTC is one of the UK leading centre‘s for Research and Development. As part of your role, you will contribute ideas and get the opportunity to be involved in proposing/ delivering market leading research through our Core Research Projects (CRP‘s), while also playing a role in business development activities.

 

Learning and personal growth is taken very seriously at the MTC, as a member of the team, you will be provided with frequent training and development opportunities, as well as support towards professional accreditation (IEng/CEng), if you do not have it already.

 

 

The Person

 

The ideal candidate for the role of Advanced Research Engineer - Design & Build will have/be:

  • Degree qualified specialising in Mechanical / Manufacturing / Mechatronics or apprentice trained with a HND/HNC in engineering

  • Previous design engineering experience (3+ years) within a manufacturing, R&D or industrial setting, ideally with experience of designing machinery.

  • Experience of leading and managing engineering based projects

  • Experience of using CAD systems (ideally Siemens NX or Solidworks)

  • Team orientated with a flexible approach to project delivery
