Working in partnership with Consilium Recruit they are seeking a Technology Portfolio Manager - Modelling & Simulation. The role is responsible for leadership and management of all aspects of the programme or work packages including delivery, technical oversight and stake holder management.

The Role


The purpose of the Technology Portfolio Manager‘s role is to provide leadership of the larger Digital programmes, in support of our customer‘s industrial demand to transform manufacturing processes through digital technologies involving the adoption of industrial digital technologies, to meet the strategical and commercially requirements inclusive of:

  • Technical leadership on projects, with particular focus on producing state-of-the-art demonstrations involving industrial digital technologies relating to modelling and simulation:- analysis and optimisation of product, process, factory, facility, business or supply chains through such methods as FEA, CFD, DEM, DES, Costing or spreadsheet modelling, virtual assurance or process simulations;

  • Have a strong reputation for understanding of the breadth of Digital Engineering technologies and their respective manufacturing industrial application;

  • Strong visions of technology development routes, contributing to and developing roadmaps and enabling new digital technologies strategy to be establish in the Department;

  • Forming mutual strategic partnerships and manage stakeholders within academia, technology suppliers and vendors, industrial end-users alike;

  • Ability to lead and mentor teams within programmes and identify and request appropriate resources;

  • Ensure promotion of emerging technology through external channels including publicising content through media channels, and attendance of specialist conferences and meetings;

  • Reporting to governance boards on the technical, finance and commercial progress of programmes;

  • Awareness of commercial use and adoption of modelling and simulation across Sectors and Supply Chain Tiers.


The role will be supported by the Programme Management function taking responsibility for aspects of planning, cost and risk management.



The Person


The ideal candidate for the role of Technology Portfolio Manager - Modelling & Simulation would have/be:

  • A degree-calibre engineer, technologist, scientist or mathematician.

  • A range of management and leadership skills along with expert knowledge and experience relating directly to the delivery of this management role. You will use this to lead the activities you are responsible for and to contribute to broader debates on the tactical direction of the business.

  • A strong understanding of the breadth of Digital Engineering technologies and their respective manufacturing industrial application;

  • An in depth understanding / appreciation of the challenges in the adoption of digital technologies in respect to modelling and simulation. Expertise in one or more technologies that contributes towards delivery of Digital Engineering‘s strategic vision of: virtual manufacturing validation, digitally assisted design, model-based adaptive manufacturing, assisted-human manufacturing, supply chain solutions and circular economy. Demonstrable application of these technologies in a manufacturing business and how they will drive advances in manufacturing and resultant return on investment;
