Working in partnership with Consilium Recruit they are seeking a Technology Manager - Digital Engineering (Product Development). As a Technology Manager, you will be responsible for providing leadership and delivery of a specific function, or the technical delivery of a large programme of work.

The Role


The purpose of the Technology Manager, Digital Engineering (Product Development) is to provide leadership and management in the specific areas of product management, product development & CR&D portfolio development specifically within the remit of Digital Engineering, however with the expectation to move to other similar roles within the business as part of broadening their managerial experience and competencies.


Product Management

For the portfolio of products the role is responsible for:

  • Support the definition of the standard products and offerings from within the Technology Group.

  • Manage the evolution, strengthening and extension of the impact of these products by ensuring the creation of material to support delivery and sales (tools, templates, case studies etc.) across industrial projects, Collaborative Research & Development, Training and Manufacturing Support Services.


Product Development

For the portfolio of products the role is responsible for:

  • Ensuring active engagement with the industrial sectors to understand future product requirements and support implementation and development plans for emerging products.

  • Work closely with the Technology Management community to understand emerging capability and ensure this aligns to current and future product requirements.

  • Contribute to the development of a co-ordinated plan with the industrial sectors for key clients/ product combinations.


CR&D Portfolio Development

For the portfolio of products the role is responsible for:

  • Undertake horizon-scanning of future funding opportunities and lead the prioritisation of proposal activity against these calls;

  • Develop and manage a pipeline of ideas ahead of relevant funding calls and manage dissemination of pipeline opportunities to the group;

  • Co-ordinate bid submission teams to deliver CRD bids that support the development of products;



The Person


The ideal candidate for the role of Technology Manager - Digital Engineering (Product Development) would have/be:

  • Degree calibre engineer, technologist, scientist or mathematician;

  • Experience of working in a number of roles in a project-based, research and development organisation;

  • Securing funding for capability / new value proposition development;

  • Have a strong reputation for understanding of the breadth of Digital Engineering technologies, their respective manufacturing industrial application and the challenges/opportunities in the adoption;

  • Have and understanding / appreciation of the challenges in the adoption of digital technologies, e.g. AI, analytics, industrial communications (e.g. 5G), software development, cybersecurity and systems, virtual factory, data driven augmentation of inspection, enterprise architectures in a manufacturing business and how the adoption of these will drive advances in manufacturing and resultant return on investment;

  • Technical leadership on projects, with focus on producing state-of-the-art demonstrations involving industrial digital technologies;

  • Commercially aware;

  • Able to think strategically.
