Due to expansion a leading manufacturer has a new vacancy for a Project Buyer to work on a 12-month Fixed Term assignment. This position would suit a procurement professional with experience of managing low volume, time critical engineering procurement projects and candidates are sought with a proven track record of developing supplier agreements and driving supply chain improvements.

Salary: £ 40,000 - £ 50,000 p.a. plus benefits

Working for a global organisation, candidates will be responsible for improving and developing purchasing and procurements activities, including supply chain improvements, delivering cost savings, contract negotiation and agreeing supplier arrangements.
Establish and develop supplier base
Drive supply chain improvements
Work closely with Project Manager to ensure costs and timescales are met
Managing and develop a wide-ranging supplier portfolio
Negotiating supplier agreements
Agree all sourcing of materials, services and components
Maintain Approved Supplier quotation database
Negotiate with suppliers and make commercial recommendations
Represent the purchasing department at internal and external meetings
An accomplished purchasing professional, candidates are sought with strong and effective negotiation skills, a proven track record of supplier development and you will ideally have worked in low volume, time critical manufacturing environment.
An understanding of both commercial and operational aspects of procurement, you must have strong communication skills with the confidence and ability to work with senior management and on your own initiative.
