The High Temperature Research Centre (HTRC) is a collaboration between the University of Birmingham and Rolls-Royce. The facility will enable a halving of the lead-time for the design & make of turbine components; develop novel techniques to enable future design styles and manufacturing systems and accelerate cost reduction & casting yield improvement activities. This is a chance to work within a co-located design and manufacturing engineering team within the HTRC and in close collaboration with a wide range of research engineers from the relevant academic fields. Working in partnership with Consilium Recruit they are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Metrology. The purpose of this role is to define the method of verification for research trials and demonstrator components.

As a Manufacturing Engineer Metrology based at our High Temperature Research Centre (HTRC) in Ansty, you will conduct research into the measurement capabilities of turbine components manufactured through the Single Crystal Investment casting process.:
Defining the method of verification for research trials and demonstrator components.
Actively participate in Design for Manufacture activities to deliver verification and measurement solutions.
Resolve technical problems using structured problem-solving techniques.
Apply the Manufacturing Capability Acquisition process to rigorously assess new manufacturing capabilities.
Work with interfacing teams (R&T, Design, production facilities etc), partners (University & research networks) and suppliers to develop innovative solutions.
Provide technical ownership of the equipment and methods for one or more of the metrology processes. Drive best practice and continuous improvement in the area to ensure robust and capable processes.
Lead improvement projects around metrology processes.
Support project engineers in defining the measurement strategy and implementing techniques for measuring Turbine components.
The successful candidate for Manufacturing Engineer Metrology Process will be experienced and qualified in the following:
A demonstrated knowledge and experience of working within a manufacturing environment is essential.
Sound understanding of Metrology techniques is essential with experience in at least one of the following (CMM, 3DSL, 2D/3D CT, GOM, Nikon, Mitutoyo ).
Equipped with a strong functional skill set (problem solving, programme management, change control, risk management and budgetary control).
The role is suited to a metrology degree qualified engineer (or related discipline) or who has experience in metrology processes.
