The High Temperature Research Centre (HTRC) is a collaboration between the University of Birmingham and Rolls-Royce. The facility will enable a halving of the lead-time for the design & make of turbine components; develop novel techniques to enable future design styles and manufacturing systems and accelerate cost reduction & casting yield improvement activities. This is a chance to work within a co-located design and manufacturing engineering team within the HTRC and in close collaboration with a wide range of research engineers from the relevant academic fields. Working in partnership with Consilium Recruit they are seeking a Project Engineer. The purpose of the role is to contribute to research and project delivery in manufacturing technologies. With a focus on conducting research into the design and manufacture of turbine components manufactured through the Single Crystal Investment casting process.

As a Project Engineer based at our High Temperature Research Centre (HTRC) in Ansty, you will conduct research into the design and manufacture of turbine components manufactured through the Single Crystal Investment casting process:
Develop methods of manufacture for New Part Introduction (NPI) and technology demonstrators, continuous improvement and the identification of further technology opportunities.
The Project Engineer Owner role has a direct impact on the deliverables of the research centre and the successful candidate will ensure delivery to the customer, on-time, to cost and to the required quality standard.
Creation, maintenance and ownership of the component technical package and providing daily production support to the operations team.
Supporting the design of simple tooling and fixtures that enable the delivery of new parts.
The successful candidate for Project Engineer will be experienced and qualified in the following areas:
Degree qualified or equivalent.
Whilst not essential for the role experience of CAD/ CAM and tooling design would be beneficial.
Excellent data analysis skills including the use of appropriate data handling software.
Experience developing and maintaining a method of manufacture.
Familiarisation with/ experience of reading engineering drawings.
Promoting teamwork, supporting through difficult times and collectively celebrating successes.
Sound understanding of manufacturing engineering and component engineering.
Investment casting knowledge is desirable.
Equipped with a strong functional skill set (problem solving, programme management, change control, risk management and budgetary control).
