Working in partnership with Consilium Recruit they are seeking a Technology Manager - Group Resource Manager - Digital Engineering. As a Technology Manager, you will be responsible for providing leadership and delivery of a specific function, or the technical delivery of a large programme of work.

The Role


The role of Technology Manager - Group Resource Manager - Digital Engineering requires

  • Technical leadership on projects, with focus on producing state-of-the-art demonstrations involving industrial digital technologies - AI, data analytics, industrial interoperability, extended reality (augmented and mixed reality), systems integration, virtual factory (modelling & simulation) concepts or data driven inspection;

  • Demonstrable knowledge of the challenges in the adoption of industrial digital technologies in a manufacturing business and how they will drive advances in manufacturing and resultant return on investment;


It also requires leadership and management in the specific areas of resource development, resource deployment and line management for the Digital Engineering Group.


Resource Development

For the associated pool of colleagues:

  • Oversee career development and ensure alignment with the organisation‘s needs.

  • Ensure that the departmental skills and competency profile is in line with the MTC‘s strategic objectives.

  • Development of appropriate retention strategies.


Resource Deployment

For the associated pool of colleagues:

  • Represent your business unit within the Resource Management function.

  • Ensure strategic and optimal deployment of engineering resource across portfolio of industrial and technology sector projects. Aspects include deployment of appropriate skillsets to projects to ensure that delivery is carried out with consideration to project impact, cost, and opportunities for skills development.

  • Provide additional resource consistent with the technology group‘s make-buy policy through recruitment, use of member‘s in-kind contributions and deployment of resources through the MTC‘s resource partners.


Line Management

For the associated pool of colleagues:

  • Provide day-to-day line management of your first line reports.

  • Ensure that engineers are able to work in an environment that aligns to the MTC‘s RIGHT way of working. To address any issues of conflict or capability in a timely, impartial and appropriate manner.

  • Ensure that MTC work is carried out in the RIGHT way, ensuring that the values of quality, cost, time and impact are instilled in the manner of delivery.

  • Ensure that effective communication of business updates is carried out in a timely, consistent manner through all levels of the business.

  • Be a point of escalation for any people, performance and resource issues relevant to the team. Use a radical candour approach to manage team members to align outputs with the required objectives and performance levels. Be a source of coaching and mentoring up, down and across the team structure.



The Person


The ideal candidate for the role of Technology Manager - Group Resource Manager - Digital Engineering will have/be:

  • A degree-calibre engineer, technologist, scientist or mathematician, have an understanding of the breadth of Engineering technologies and their respective manufacturing industrial applications across the Technology theme.

  • A range of management and leadership skills along with knowledge and experience relating directly to the delivery of this management role. You will use this to lead the activities you are responsible for and to contribute to broader debates on the tactical direction of the business.

  • Where required, advise technical leads and teams on projects to provide technical leadership and guidance in area of expertise (for example, any of the following: informatics skillsets) to mitigate issues and risks to achieve a positive outcome for MTC and its customers

  • Commercially aware;

  • Able to think strategically;

  • Adept at using micro-soft toolset: Word, PowerPoint & Excel;

  • A range of experience in leadership and management in a research and development environment, empathetic to the motivations of engineers and a culturally diverse workforce;

  • An ability to manage relationships with internal & external stakeholders;

  • Capability in communicating effectively with colleagues at all levels in the business
