Role and Centre Overview
Plymouth Science Park is a world-class centre of excellence for ground-breaking research, business and laboratory innovation. The 25-acre campus is the region‘s largest science and technology centre and has benefited from five impressive phases of development over the last 25 years. With both private and public investment, they are launching a Centre for Additive Manufacturing to engage both industrial and academic stakeholders in ground-breaking and high-impact research across a diverse range of sectors including healthcare, medical, aerospace, automotive, defence and industrial areas.
The purpose of the role is to lead the PSP ALM Unit as a capable technical expert on Additive Manufacturing, to foster and encourage the commercial development of the centre including liaison with current and future customers and to facilitate effective and appropriate knowledge transfer to the relevant stakeholders including academic and industrial partners.

Successful delivery of research and development requirements and projects
Effective customer engagement to ensure a reliable and valid stream of work for the centre
Developing the full technology capability of the centre including make the most effective use of the equipment and people within the centre
Ensuring compliance with site and statutory requirements relating to Health and Safety, quality standards etc.
Facilitating the transfer and appropriate dissemination of knowledge from R&D activity.
Building effective partnerships with both industry and academic stakeholders.
Demonstrating innovation, inclusivity and positive impact for society in the work undertaken for the centre.
Building and developing a team of talent and committed engineers and researchers for the centre.
Developing long-standing and repeat business relationships with industrial stakeholders.
Proven mechanical engineering background and subject matter expertise in Additive Manufacturing.
Demonstrable record of delivering innovative R&D within ideally academic and industrial collaborative environments.
Degree-level or higher qualification in a STEM discipline.
Able to demonstrate excellent commercial awareness including supporting customers, validation and feasibility assessments for future work and positive experience for all stakeholders.
Experience in running a department or research centre operationally including visibility of cost, spend, profit and loss.
A passion to deliver engineering work of significant impact to society.
You will demonstrate a keen and passionate commitment to inclusivity and ensuring far reaching access to all interested stakeholders and visitors to the Centre.
Consilium Recruit will support the initial interview and screening, followed by a two-stage process engaged with Plymouth Science Park.
