Leading supplier of complex engineered products to the Rail sector is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join the team based in the Midlands. You will support both new product introductions and upgrades to existing products. The role is permanent, with training and good progression potential.

You will support the design and produce electrical control and distribution panels through to commissioning and to provide technical support for operational employees and external customers
The Electrical Design Engineer will support the project Management of each job - design, technical, purchasing, quality, after care support and testing, in addition to reviewing profit and loss of each job. Key day-to-day function include the creation of electrical schematics and creation of Bills of Materials and purchase lists
You will carry out contract reviews as per the requirements of the quality procedure and ensure all activities undertaken are fully compliant with quality management system and in accordance with health and safety requirements. You will enjoy proximity to customers and work on projects supporting the next generation of Rail technology.
The Electrical Design Engineer will be qualified to HNC / HND level in Electrical design - (or equivalent experience) and possess excellent commercial awareness within the manufacturing arena.
You will be able to support new product introduction through the creation of electrical schematics and be able to demonstrate experience in product design lifecycle - from concept to introduction into manufacturing (ideally in safety critical industry).
Experience / knowledge of rail industry is advantageous but not essential for the role, manufacturing/NPI experience is highly desired, in addition to proven experience managing NPI projects. If you are applying from within the Rail sector, a PTS (Personal Track Safety) certificate is highly welcomed.
