Following the award of a number of new programmes an innovate designer and manufacturer of complex assemblies to the aerospace sector has a new vacancy for a Lead Engineer. An experienced senior engineer you will provide technical supervision while working closely with key stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of projects.

 

 

Commutable from: Norwich, Thetford, Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich, Kings Lynn, Great Yarmouth.


Salary: £ 60,000 - £ 70,000 + benefits

Suitable For: Lead Engineer, Chief Engineer, Design Engineer, Development Engineer, Principal Engineer, Project Manager, Senior Engineer.

 


The Role

 

As the Lead Engineer you will be taking a lead role in the engineering team, you will be responsible for a team of engineers and will work closely with the Customers, Suppliers and senior management to ensure the Design team to turn engineering design concepts into fully validated and verified designs fit for volume manufacture.

 

Key responsibilities:

 

Lead the technical direction of the project design team to ensure final designs meet customer requirements

Ensure designs comply with certifications

Technical sign off of engineering changes and design releases

Lead and undertake problem solving of design and product issues to resolve functional issues

Work with production and quality teams to investigate and resolve issues

Ensure accurate Bill of Materials output and authorise concessions

Managing and presenting engineering reviews both internal and external

Work with Stress team to analyse and resolve structural performance concerns

Liaise with Production to ensure effective Design for Assembly

Be responsible for validation and qualification of system designs

Lead design reviews with the customer

 


The Person

 

Proven track record of successful involvement in design & development projects

Honours Degree or equivalent in an Mechanical Engineering or similar subject

Understanding of engineering drawings and design standards

Extensive use of 3D CAD (preferably SolidWorks)

Experience in the validation and verification of product including environmental qualification

Thorough understanding of the principles of systems engineering

High level of competence in planning, organising and prioritising.

Good communicator throughout all levels of the organisation and externally
