Following significant investment, new product launch and expansion, a world leading manufacturer of complex machinery has a new vacancy for a Mechanical Design Engineer. As an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer you will support multiple work packages and candidates are sought with a proven track record of delivering high quality engineering solutions.

Salary: £36,000 - £50,000 + benefits

 

Suitable for: Mechanical Design Engineer, Lead Engineer, Senior Design Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Design Engineer, CAD Engineer.

 

 

The Role

 

Working for a world leading manufacturer who are developing new advanced machinery focused on low carbon technologies, as the Mechanical Design Engineer you will work on multiple work packages and the role would suit a candidate with a proven track record of delivering high quality engineering solutions.

 

Key responsibilities:

 

Develop concepts and production designs of components and assemblies from system level requirements through to final definition.

Create CAD models, assemblies, drawings and specifications according to best practice and corporate standards.

Perform detail 2D/3D tolerance studies on bespoke designs.

Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering and Supply Chain personnel to optimise the design for production.

Actively improve the Mechanical Engineering best-practices, processes and standards.

Support DFMEA activities

Support the continuous improvement of the Design Engineering function.

 

 

The Person

 

Relevant Engineering degree is preferred but not essential

Must have a meticulous, disciplined approach and work to a high level of accuracy

Be able to work from fundamental engineering principles where best practices and standards are not available

Capable of working in a highly dynamic environment with changing priorities.

The ideal candidate will have some experience across a broad range of relevant component designs, for example; machined parts, piping & pipe fittings, electrical harnesses, sheet metal work, tooling & jigs.

Minimum 5 years using CAD is required (ideal candidate should have at least 2 years using Solidworks although training can be provided)
