Consilium Recruit are proudly supporting Severn Thermal Solutions with the recruitment of a Mechanical Design Engineer. Working on-site at their Dursley facility you will provide design and mechanical support to Severn Thermal Solutions existing products as well as all design activities on new product introduction.

Severn Thermal Solutions has a wide range of experience in design and manufacture of high temperature furnaces and environmental chambers for a wide variety of applications within industry and academia. Their product and knowledge base is vast, ranging from Furnace systems for processing or testing advanced ceramics at very high temperature to environmental chambers used for materials testing and processing applications at low temperatures. They are enjoying an incredibly exciting phase in the development of their products and are now seeking a Design Engineer to join them.
Severn Thermal Solution are leading suppliers to the Nuclear, Power Generation, Automotive, Materials Testing, Micro Electronics, Aerospace and Education and Research market sectors and have a wide product portfolio to support these markets. The Design Engineer will lead design activity for new projects and support effective design and development of design alterations for existing products for new customers or markets. The Design Engineer will engage daily with project stakeholders to ensure milestones are achieved and that the most innovative and market-leading solutions are explored and created.
The Design Engineer will create 3D and 2D CAD content using Autodesk Fusion. You will engage with all stakeholders within the business to develop new ideas and methods of work, control product configuration and support new business activity. The Design Engineer will draw on a depth of engineering experience and knowledge including first engineering principles to create complex and innovative solutions.
Additionally, you will support the company R&D programme for product development and new product introductions. Further requirements include support and management of the CAD data and relevant updates to the design data, supporting the ongoing review of product maturity including testing and analysis for all aspects of the Severn Thermal Solutions product.
The Design Engineer will ideally possess a degree level qualification or similar within an engineering discipline such as Mechanical Engineering or similar higher-level qualification and be conversant with lean design processes and modern manufacturing methods. Previous exposure to furnace manufacture or material testing is highly advantageous in addition to excellent communication skills including customer interaction.
The Design Engineer will be well versed within CAD for mechanical engineering on complex systems and possess previous experience of working in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment and being able to develop and build solutions in a collaborative environment.
