The Role
As the Mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for the mechanical integration of components into complex battery systems, creating design concepts and 2/3D models and then working closely with our wider team to bring the solutions to fruition.
Leading the mechanical design and development of batteries, integrating Faradion cells into packs
Developing mechanical design solutions including producing 2D and 3D models using CAD systems such as SolidWorks or NX.
Developing assembly instructions and testing plans
Design, procure, and implement test rigs and prototype testing models and subsequent analysis of test data.
Generate BOM, supporting Project Management & Costing
Contribute to design reviews of equipment under development phase using Design FMEA. and manufacturing processes using Process FMEA.
The Person
Educated to BEng level in Mechanical Design Engineering or similar.
Experience using 2/3D CAD systems such as SolidWorks or NX for 3D modelling and generating 2D assembly and component drawings.
Thermal management knowledge, including modelling
Experience developing robust products, ideally batteries, or products with relevant engineering needs such as automotive, aviation or medical.
Knowledge of materials selection for properties such as temperature, strength, stiffness, etc.
Generate innovative product concepts and solutions
Experience of supplier selection and leading delivery of equipment package.
Testing and simulation experience, including developing methods for testing thermal and mechanical properties.
Carry out concept design studies and present outcome for review.
Ability to create clear and precise documentation
