The High Temperature Research Centre (HTRC) is a collaboration between the University of Birmingham and Rolls-Royce. The facility will enable a halving of the lead-time for the design & make of turbine components; develop novel techniques to enable future design styles and manufacturing systems and accelerate cost reduction & casting yield improvement activities. This is a chance to work within a co-located design and manufacturing engineering team within the HTRC and in close collaboration with a wide range of research engineers from the relevant academic fields. Working in partnership with Consilium Recruit they are seeking a Metrology Technician. The purpose of the role will involve supporting the manufacturing process from initial request through to delivery of components.

Duties and responsibilities of the Metrology Technician include:
Maintaining a safe working environment for oneself and others in line with HTRC Health & Safety processes and procedures.
Execute efficient and effective inspection processes to ensure conforming and on-time delivery to our customers.
Following working processes whilst ensuring route cards and work instructions are followed without deviation.
Responsibility for the care of Metrology Lab equipment, including some preventative maintenance and asset care.
Supporting the manufacturing engineers in creating cost estimates, lead times and route cards
Contributing to continuous improvement and problem-solving activities
Supporting various activities required for the running of the Metrology department.
The successful candidate must have a level of technical knowledge that will allow them to contribute as member of the Metrology team.
HNC level qualification in a relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent industry experience
Experience in any Metrology / inspection techniques
Experience in any of the following inspection acquisition techniques:
Tactile dimensional measurement e.g. first principles, CMM (MCOSMOS)
Non-contact data capture e.g. XCT, 3D optical scanning (GOM, Alicona)
Experience in any of the following data analysis software e.g. Volume Graphics, Polyworks, GOM inspect.
