A leading manufacturer of bespoke precision components has a new vacancy for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join the team. Candidates are sought with proven experience developing manufacturing process, with CNC programming skills in a precision machining environment.

Salary: £ 35,000 - £ 40,000 p.a. + Pension + Benefits

The Role

 

The Manufacturing Engineer will support engineering and production by developing robust production methods to ensure products can be manufacture more efficiently.

 

Responsibilities:

Work with the production teams to develop cost effective solutions for NPI & current products

Use ’Design for Manufacture‘ principles to ensure components & products can be made effectively.

Working with the Design & Production teams to produce tooling, jigs, fixtures and gauges required to support manufacturing.

Develop continuous improvements to live product designs to overcome production/quality problems and/or reduce cost.

Investigate production processes to improve efficiencies and reduce material cost in new and current products.

Research & develop new technologies to enhance our manufacturing capabilities and product offering

Creating specials & prototypes to support the NPI process.

Management & control of 3D printing machine & processes.

Responsibility for development of the CAM system & rollout.

Day-to-day management of CAD/CAM Setter/Programmer.

Involvement in tooling specification & management for CNC machines.

Take an active role in Business Improvement and as necessary carry out improvement activities.

Support design and customer reviews and creation of SOPs/documentation as required

Train employees on the production method required for new products and product changes.

 

 

The Person

 

Educated to HNC level or equivalent in and Engineering discipline

Able to demonstrate the ability to read and understand engineering drawings

Good ability to used CAD and CAM packages such as Fanuc, Heidenhain or Mazak

Ability to program, set & operate CNC lathes and both 3 and 5 axis machining centers.

Have a good understanding or machining & production process/systems and lean manufacturing methods

Methodical approach with good attention to detail essential

Be proficient in using Microsoft Office packages with good Excel knowledge

Able to put ideas across in clear and concise manner in written and verbal form

Ability to work independently and meet critical deadlines and get others to do the same.

A good attitude, flexible to challenges and possible changes is essential.
