Modelling and Simulation Engineer

An award-winning engineering group working primarily in the aerospace, defence and marine sectors has an urgent vacancy for an interim Modelling and Simulation Engineer. Working on a number of advanced programmes you will work within a team responsible for the development of complex control algorithms and system plant models for next generation applications and you must have a strong understanding of model-based processes.


Commutable from: Bristol, Cheltenham, Gloucester, Bath, Swindon. 

Salary: Dependant on experience.

The Role

Forming part of the Simulation and Control team you will be responsible for the development of complex control algorithms and system plant models for next generation applications.  The role covers all aspects of model-based design, from controller design and tuning, model build and test.

Able to demonstrate a strong understanding of model-based processes, Matlab/Simulink and ideally control theory, you will have strong interpersonal skills along with the ability to work and collaborate within a team of engineers.

Key responsibilities include:

Defining model and control algorithm requirements
Build and test of models
Peer review of models
Preparation and presentation of results, models etc to customers
Formal verification procedures
Authoring model documentation

The Person

Qualifications - ideally be degree qualified (or equivalent) in a related discipline (preferably Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Mathematics, Physics, or similar).
Demonstratable knowledge of model-based processes and experience of Matlab/Simulink
An ability to manage multiple tasks, to work independently when required, and the organisation and drive to follow defined processes through to a successful outcome.
Highly developed interpersonal skills, including a diplomatic and professional approach when dealing with people.
