A leading developer of hydrogen energy and propulsion solutions is seeking a Marine Legislation and Compliance Specialist to support the Marine team through the product certification process to interpret and comply with global hydrogen and marine standards, This is a permanent role, based in Essex.

The Role
The Marine Legislation and Compliance Specialist will support the Marine team through the product certification process to interpret and comply with various global hydrogen and marine standards, including but not limited to, engine and hydrogen fuel storage and delivery system approvals.
You will maintain up to date knowledge of industry standards and applicable rules, monitor legislative changes and assess their potential impact on dual-fuel engine and hydrogen system approvals.
The Marine Legislation and Compliance Specialist will act as an interface for external parties (e.g. Classification Societies) to exchange testing and witnessing requirements and cascade requirements to the engineering and calibration teams. Additionally, you will oversee multiple complex schedules, setting priorities for internal teams and advise Company management of the legislation/compliance project statuses on a regular basis.
The Marine Legislation and Compliance Specialist will be responsible for developing new project legislation approval and will coordinate the efforts of the engineering and production departments to ensure programs are conducted in accordance with the safety standard requirements.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate compliance requirements into the development process and coordinate prototype certification testing to qualify new designs/systems.
The Marine Legislation and Compliance Specialist will ensure compliance to safety analysis including DFMEA, HAZID, HAZOP, HAT and SAT alongside supplying ongoing training to the engineering teams, acting as a resource and mentor for technical guidance.
The Person
The successful candidate for the role of Marine Legislation and Compliance Specialist will hold a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in engineering, business, or a related field of study.
You will have both technical and leadership experience in product certification with experience in any of the following being highly preferred and highly valued: Classification society/Plan Approval, Hydrogen and/or fuel cells and additionally Oil and Gas, CNG, LNG.
You will ideally have experience in advocacy and engagement with regulatory agencies and possess the ability to travel internationally to no more than 20% of the overall working pattern annually.
The Marine Legislation and Compliance Specialist will have computer and software systems skills as applicable to position including but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, and Outlook and demonstrate exceptional organisational skills.
