They develop automotive, marine, and industrial applications. They are seeking an Engine Calibration Engineer to join the team in Essex focused on operational calibration including hands-on engine testing.


Commutable from:  Brentwood, Southend-on-Sea, Chelmsford, London 

Salary:  Negotiable based on experience + Excellent Benefits including Pension, Healthcare and Bonus  


The Role 

The Powertrain Calibration Engineer will perform base engine calibration across multiple powertrains in a dyno environment and complete calibration in vehicle and on non-road machinery. 

You will provide engineering reports with program status activity reports covering both technical deliverables and business performance and be responsible for recording and analyse test data using current analytical and product development IT tools relevant to engine software and control systems.

The Operational Calibration Engineer will develop and apply test control and measurement systems for calibration, engine emissions testing, after-treatment systems durability testing, regeneration, and emissions reduction performance.

You will participate in root cause failure analysis during the development process and find and recommend practical solutions for specific failure modes as related to calibration parameters, or calibration related engine and emissions systems performance.

You will ensure adherence to all Health & Safety and Quality & Environmental policies that affect the relevant work areas.


The Person  

The successful candidate for the role will possess a bachelor's level degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related degree (or equivalent proven experience). You will be well versed in diesel calibration, test, development, and systems engineering. The role requires a level of direct experience in engine testing and development.

The Operational Calibration Engineer will have experience of running base engine calibration activities in a dyno testing environment, including base engine mapping and calibration validation.

As an experienced problem solver, you will have solid Mechanical Engineering knowledge developed in an applied capacity such as engine applications, dyno testing and hands-on engine testing.

You will be an experienced problem solver with core skills in reliability and robustness engineering and the ability to self-manage and work under pressure to deliver in an ever-changing and dynamic environment.   International travel is required for the role.
